Perched on 1 Billion y.o. rocky point, cradled by forest, this fairytale cabin honors its surroundings, reflecting the property’s Celtic meaning: Soul Friend.

The 1400 square foot cabin is a handcrafted work of art, just 6 miles from Copper Harbor in one direction and Mount Bohemia in the other direction.

It’s a luxuriously comfortable, dreamy, one-of-a-kind place in one of the most beautiful parts of Upper Michigan.

Designed by artists, filled with art, quality amenities and delightful details, the cabin offers a lovely space for up to two couples but it’s also a great family getaway.

There’s a lot to explore when it comes to Anam Cara - let’s go on a quick tour to give you an overview!
Lake Medora is an idyllic, peaceful lake of 700 acres, with 3 public islands; surrounded by forest and the rugged mountains of the Keweenaw Peninsula.

And our location on a large peninsula on Medora’s western shore with two points and several sandy coves is perfect for exploration, adventure, relaxation and contemplation.

We’ve got our own almost mile-long biking/hiking trail, designed by Aaron Rogers, the penultimate mountain bike trail builder in the world.

The main cabin of wood, stone and bark sits on a rocky point…surrounded by perennial gardens and forest. “It’s a Hansel-Gretel cabin!” a visitor exclaimed.

A cabin of wood, stone and bark on a rocky point...timeless.
Perhaps the hardest decision for our guests: which season to visit? Summer’s divine, autumn’s stunning, spring inspires…winter’s a wonderland.

The outdoor pull is balanced by the inward pull of the cabin’s attractions. The 1st floor features an open plan to maximize the views.

Both light-filled bedrooms offer a combination of comfort, simple luxury and beauty. We used the concept of “layering” to create whimsy and surprise.

Two private bathrooms. Soak in the guest bathtub while enjoying the gorgeous views.

Entries are often neglected transition zones, but not in this cabin. Bark walls, handmade lights, a bench for sitting, built-in cabinets, coat hooks, a coat closet and a washer/dryer behind the other closet door. Oh, there’s also a hidden utility sink.

There’s a lot going on in this picture. It was intended to show the open view from the kitchen, but it also shows a lot of details, including 8 homemade illuminated structures(the chandelier above the dining table is an exception) as well as the unique stair rails, made from branches gathered on the property.

Leather window seat, fairy lights, recycled leaded windows, stone wall, home-made pillow from a souvenir T-shirt. A great space to curl up with a good book on a rainy autumn day.

Little details can make all the difference. A bookcase filled with interesting books forms part of the stair railing. A glass catwalk/light provides access to a magical alcove perfect for kids...

Master bedroom closet showcases some of the unique hand-made paper-branch lighting.

Heading outdoors...shower au naturel!

A windowbox with nasturtiums and petunias provides a splash of color against the stone and wood exterior.
The rocky point near the main cabin is perfect for relaxing.

Shred the trail, gain a smile, please don't fail to ride the mile. Your very own Aaron Rogers designed trail. That's primo.
Dockjumping off our permanent docks adds to summer fun!

Check out our eagle's next in a tall white pine next to the hiking trail.

Flying yoga on one of the two lakeside decks.

A summer solstice sunset - 10PM! "Can you explain why there are so many beautiful sunsets on Lake Medora?" (from a guest)

Young or old, no matter the weather...the point is magical.

Winter is for the adventurous...the only access is a 0.5 mile ski or snowshoe across the frozen lake...but the effort is well rewarded.

In the depths of winter, the lights of the cabin beckon.

The Point House is on its own picturesque point, just a few feet from our dock. You can get a sense of the seclusion of the property.

Situated on a point between a sandy cove and the dock, the Point House has its own lakeside deck, picnic table and fire ring.

It's rustic, quirky, charming.

Every window, on all of its four sides, has lake views.

The Point House is filled with natural and man-made light.

No matter the season, Anam Cara is a welcoming place...
...a place that can inspire, enchant and provide comfort.
A place of magic, natural beauty and light.

Magical, secluded Anam Cara: 10+ acres and half-mile of shoreline on idyllic Lake Medora in the Amazing Keweenaw.
